Praying Your Will be Done
Praying Your Will be Done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Based on Psalm 25:1-10
To You O Lord we lift up our soul. To you O God we place all of our trust. When the troubles and cares of this world consume me and the waves of this life overwhelm me let me hold fast to you and to you alone. Let me not be put to shame and my enemies not exult over me. Let be quiet my soul and wait for you patiently (Ps 40:1-2). You are in heaven and you do what pleases you (Ps 115:3). In your hand is power and might (1 Chr 29:11-12). You, O Lord, establish the steps of man (Prv 16:9), and the purpose of the Lord will stand (Prv 19:21). Your plans cannot be thwarted (Job 42:2).
Lord, make known your ways to me. Teach me your paths. Let me be like a tree planted by streams of water yielding it’s fruit in its season (Ps 1:3). Let our heart, soul, and might love you (Deut 6:5). Let us love your word and meditate on it day and night (Ps 119:97). Help us to store it up in our hearts (Ps 119:11). Lead us in your truth and teach us. You are the God of our salvation.
We cling to your promises in your word of your mercy and faithfulness. We remember your steadfast love towards your people. You are from everlasting to everlasting. We come to you only through the words and works of Christ, that we can have no other merit to give you. We come to you again knowing that we have sinned and not obeyed your holy will you revealed to us. Forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Forgive us as we have sinned against the one true living and holy God. Remember not the sins of our youth or our transgressions. Do this not according to our deeds, for they are sinful rags, but according to your steadfast love. Forgive us for the sake of your goodness, O Lord.
You are good and upright and your ways are perfect. You instruct the sinners in your holy way. You give us your Holy Spirit to help us and sanctify us. Help us walk in the newness of life (Rom 6:4). Lead us as we humble ourselves and teach us what is right. All of your paths are steadfast love and faithfulness to those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.
Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
